Former world champion and 4 times National Champion Tim Don is still a force to be reckoned with in the World of Triathlon. Tim Don’s race diet

Two days before the race:

Breakfast: Consists of a big bowl of cereal and a bagel. Alternatively, I will have three or four slices of toast with jam and honey.

For lunch: A bowl of pasta with tomato sauce and meat or grilled lean meat with new potatoes.

Evening Meal: Chicken salad with white bread.

Supplements and snacks: Omega 3 Fish Oil tablets, skimmed milk, water and snacks of nuts and seeds throughout the day, two ZV8 Energy Bars and fresh fruit

One day before the race

Breakfast: If it’s an afternoon race I have 100g of oats with fat-free milk and a cup of coffee.

Lunch: A small plate of pasta with tomato sauce – no meat this time, but a small piece a of bread instead.

Evening meal: Chicken salad with white bread.

Supplements and snacks: Omega 3 Fish Oil tablets, skimmed milk, water and snacks of nuts and seeds throughout the day, two ZV8 Energy Bars and fresh fruit

Race day

Breakfast: I have a 50g bowl of 50g porridge with skimmed milk. I avoid fruit for breakfast.

Two and a half hours before the race: I have a bowl of oats or bagels with jam, but no butter. I also have a cup of coffee and an Energy Bar . I also sip a ZV1 Energy Drink Elite through the day.

Ninety minutes before the race: Energy Drink Extreme

Seventy minutes before the race: ZV7C Caffeine Energy Gel

During the race: On my bike I have one bottle of ZV2 Energy Drink Extreme and a bottle of water. At the 30k mark I have a ZV7 Energy Gel

During the run: I have water with me, but I don’t drink it, just rinsing it around my mouth and spitting it out is enough.

After the race: For fast recovery I have a ZV3 Recovery Drink Rapide and 10 Omega 3 Fish Oil Tablets in the first hour after the race and last thing I have a ZV5 Night Time Recovery Drink ZV5 Night Time Recovery Drink
